The Hunger Games By: Suzanne Collins Submitted by Claire M.
Plot: The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who must participate in the Hunger Games against her will. The actual Hunger Games itself is a TV show that occurs yearly that's made to entertain the Capitol (people who live in the capital of their country) and to punish the 12 Districts for the war 74 years earlier. In the Games, kids between the ages of 12 and 18 are randomly selected to compete to the death in a mysterious arena. Katniss has to survive the Hunger Games which has 23 other hopeful tributes, and her odds are not too good.
Why Read? This book is definitely worth reading. I love it so much because of the adventure and the characters. The characters in the books really come alive for me and I think that it's cool to see what they have to go through in order to survive.
Comments: As much as I love The Hunger Games, the series is very graphic, and at parts, it's very disturbing to read. It's very gory and bloody, but if you're okay with that kind of stuff I highly recommend it.

Plot: A year after the sun flares struck, an aircraft sails into Mark, Trina, Alec, and Lana's settlement, which unleashes a deadly disease. Can Mark and his friends manage to avoid this quickly mutating illness? Do they stand a chance against this contagious disease?
Why Read? Yes, this book was worth reading, and if you like futuristic fiction, you will too
Comments: The story takes place 13 years before Thomas and Teresa go into the maze (which took place at the very beginning of the first book). This is the very last book of The Maze Runner series, but it has entirely different characters.
